Erewhon Natural Foods and Lassen’s Natural Foods & Vitamins, two upscale natural food markets, are expanding their presence in SoCal by opening up in new locations in the Conejo Valley over the next several months.
Erewhon, located at The Summit of Calabasas, is leasing the entire 16,250 square foot space previously occupied by Maddy’s Market. The store specializes in bringing local and organic produce to its customers, according to the Cypress Retail Group which leases space at The Summit. Like its original store in Los Angeles, Erewhon offers customers sustainably produced foods, wellness and beauty products and household items. There will also be a tonic and juice bar, a café, prepared hot foods, a deli, salad bar and a range of macrobiotic, vegan, raw, gluten-free and kosher items. Erewhon recently backed out of going into the Trancas Country Mart in Malibu following construction delays. An opening date is still yet to be determined, according to Ilona Ciezarek, leasing agent for Cypress Retail Group.
Relocating from its current store at 2857 E Thousand Oaks Blvd, Lassen’s is moving to a 13,500 square foot store space at The Lakes of Thousand Oaks, replacing Claim Jumpers, which shuttered its doors earlier this month. Lassen’s is a four-decade family-run business known for organic produce and natural, organic groceries. They offer customers a full service deli, juice bar, and a large selection of supplements, vitamins and unique natural body care products.
“We are thrilled to have Lassen’s Natural Foods & Vitamins join The Lakes at Thousand Oaks and look forward to offering our guests a community staple where they can shop for fresh, natural and organic groceries, vitamins and much more,” said Jackie Levy, executive vice president of operations for Caruso Affiliated.
Because it is independently owned, Lassens is already distinguished for carrying a wide selection of unique, lesser-known specialty brands, for its organic salad bar, full service deli including hot case items, sandwiches, wraps, soups, and made to order juices, and for its commitment to 100% organic produce and natural products, according to a press release. The store is scheduled to open this summer.
