Celebrities and local dignitaries walked the red carpet Sept. 21-22 at the 3rd annual Calabasas Film Festival. The four-day event kicked off with the US premieres of two independent films: The Monster, starring Zoe Kazan, and Sticky Notes, starring Ray Liotta, screened at Edwards Grand Palace Stadium 6.
The Monster is distributed by A24 and will hit theaters in November; Sticky Notes “was done by first time director Amanda Sharp and is still looking for US distribution, according to Kelley Fries,” festival coordinator.
“Third time’s the charm,” said Fries. “We saw tremendous growth and diversity in our audience this year which created a wonderful energy and enjoyment to all of the events.”
The festival is the brainchild of Calabasas Councilmember David Shapiro, who was mayor in 2014. “… I think our city is a perfect fit for this type of festival and [there will be an] even bigger, better festival going forward,” he told CV Happening at the time.
