A Community Gathers to Care for Its City

Hundreds of volunteers gathered at Chumash Park early Saturday morning to take part in the 3rd annual Community Service Days. Envisioned by then-Mayor William Koehler in 2014, Community Service Days was developed with  the goal of encouraging civic engagement, fostering a sense of community and enhancing current city beautification efforts to improve upon the Agoura Hills community as a whole.

Projects ranged from creating care packages for military groups to landscaping to trash pick up at public parks, school and facilities. “Today is about people giving back to their community,” said Mayor Harry Schwarz. “Whether its beautifying the landscape or helping out seniors, it’s a way to feel good about yourself without receiving material things.”

This year, the city welcomed 320 volunteers.
