Imagine being surrounded by colorful cupcakes and decadent desserts, all for the taking, on a Sunday afternoon.
A recipe for disaster on your waistline? Maybe, but it’s all for a good cause, because ticket proceeds are going to charity.
Every year, the Cancer Support Community Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara puts together events to fund its free programs for cancer patients and their families. About 3,000 adults, teens and children attend workshops, support groups and educational presentations at CSCVVSB to help them cope with cancer.
This is the third year that over 12,000 pieces of “sweet stuff” will be up for grabs to supporters and ticket holders.
“Unlike past years, there’s more than cupcakes–we have brownies, ice cream, tiramisu, doughnuts, various desserts, coffee and food samples from local restaurants,” said Hannah Wohlman, volunteer chairperson of “Let’s Bake a Difference,” CSCVVSB’s fundraiser.
Donated by over 50 local professional and amateur bakers, the sweets will be on showcase starting at noon at the Westlake Village Inn on Sunday, March 9th.
This year, a VIP lounge has been added. VIP tickets holders get early access to the event at 11:30 a.m., a champagne lunch and a gift bag, among others.
Wohlman aims to surpass last year’s event in more ways than one. “We just want to see 3,000 attendees and raise $50,000,” she said.
Tickets are $30 for adults; $15 for children. For the VIP lounge, tickets are $75 for adults; $30 for children.
