Cabrillo Music Theatre is teaming up with local businesses to provide the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley and other area non-profits serving low-income youth an opportunity to experience live theater at no cost.

Some 450 kids will attend Cabrillo Music Theatre’s Broadway quality production of Disney’s, The Little Mermaid at the Kavli Theatre, Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza located at 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard.

Youth attending the show will be coming from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley from Newbury Park to Calabasas, as well as from Boys & Girls Clubs in Camarillo and Moorpark. Youth from Casa Pacifica and the City of San Fernando will also attend the performance at no charge.

“We understand how the arts can impact student learning, and are delighted to provide youth that otherwise wouldn’t have an opportunity to experience live theater, a chance to see this special performance” said Maureen Feldman, director of Development & Community Engagement for the Cabrillo Theatre. “Participating in, and experiencing live theatre has been shown to help to increase leadership and confidence building skills in youth while sparking perhaps an interest in the arts. Exposing youth to performing arts is a major part of our mission.”

With the support of local businesses Cabrillo Music Theatre is able to provide the performance free to youth in and around Ventura County. “Along with the Cabrillo Music Theatre Board of Directors, local area businesses have joined our mission to help us provide bus transportation, tickets for the children, and other key elements to help make this possible,” said Feldman.
