Jazz and wine lovers will have plenty to enjoy at the 5th annual California Jazz & Wine Fest on Sunday, April 17, at the Four Seasons Hotel (2 Dole Drive) in Westlake Village. The festival, presented by Rotary Club of Westlake Village Sunrise, will be held from 1-5 p.m.
“We’ve moved the festival to the Four Seasons this year,” said Nadine Rothermel, festival chairperson and Rotary past president. “The California Jazz & Wine Fest is becoming the pre-eminent jazz and wine festival between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara and the Four Seasons is the perfect location.”
Festival-goers can sample from over 60 wine, craft brews, boutique spirits and gourmet foods. Beverage exhibitors pouring at the festival include Channel Islands Distillery Rum, Cutler’s Artisan Spirits, Four Brix, Golden Star Vineyards, Magnavino Cellars, Panaro Brothers Winery & Tasting Room, Squashed Grapes, Sunland Winery, Surf Brewery, Twisted Oak Tavern, and Ventura Limoncello Company.
Gourmet food participants include Celebrate Sweetly, Grissini Italian Ristorante, Maestro’s Steakhouse, Paul Martin’s Grill, Spanish Hills Country Club and Urbane Café. Over 20 artisan craft booths will also be at the festival.
Musicians will perform on two stages—in the main ballroom and in an adjacent enclosed tent. Headlining is Tom Scott, a renowned composer, arranger, producer, musical director and saxophonist. Scott has 34 solo recordings to his credit and has earned 14 Grammy nominations and three Grammy Awards. His career as a guest artist/arranger spans over 500 recordings—by diverse artists such as Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Quincy Jones, Gerry Mulligan, the Blues Brothers, Joni Mitchell and Steely Dan. Among his motion picture scores are Uptown Saturday Night, Stir Crazy and Shakes the Clown. Scott has served as Musical Director for the Academy Awards, the Emmy Awards, Comic Relief, Joni Mitchell, George Harrison, Olivia Newton-John, and the GRP All-Star Big Band.
Also performing are the Adam Clark Trio, Paul McCallum & Friends, Santa Barbara Community College Jazz Big Band, Doug Webb Group, The Barrelhouse Wailers, Lori Andrews (jazz harpist) and the Westlake High School Jazz Ensemble.
Festival sponsors include HUB International, RMS Printing, The Oaks, Squashed Grapes, Pinot’s Palette, Brewer & Tominaga, Westlake Hyatt Regency, Edible Ojai & Ventura County, The Anza and American Humane Association.
Tickets are $100 per person/general admission and $150 per person/VIP admission (VIP tickets include one-hour early entry for tasting, valet parking, preferred seating and other amenities). Both include unlimited beverage and food tasting and a tasting glass. Festival goers must be age 21 or older. Only 1,500 tickets will be sold.
Money raised at the festival will benefit Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, in particular, the Mark Taper and Johnny Mercer Artists Program that focuses on healing the whole child through art and music. Additionally, the event will benefit other Rotary charities, both locally and globally.
