Where to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day 2014!

CloverEvery year on March 17, the Irish and Irish-at-heart observe St. Patrick’s Day around the globe. It began as a religious feast day for the patron saint of Ireland, and has become an international festival celebrating Irish culture with dancing, special foods and, of course, lots of green.

Since St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Monday this year, many establishments are having celebrations throughout the weekend. So for a wee bit of fun, check out the following options.

Everybody loves a parade, and the 26th Annual Ventura St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place downtown from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The parade starts on East Main Street in front of the San Buenaventura Mission and continues up East Main Street and ends at the corner of North Chestnut Street and East Main Street.

Of course, Brendan’s Irish Pub in Agoura Hills will be celebrating all weekend long. Enjoy bagpipers, Irish dancers, and the Shenanigans Irish band, beginning March 14.

It wouldn’t be a St. Paddy’s Day celebration without the annual Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center’s, March 15. The festivities will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 27040 Malibu Hills Road in Calabasas. Enjoy music, entertainment, food, activities, contests, games and drawings for a number of prizes. There will be face painting, rock climbing, inflatable rides, and a photo booth. For information, call (818) 880-2993 or visit www.ahccc.org.

Make sure to stop by Ladyface Alehouse & Brasserie on March 17 for green hoppy beer and entertainment from Alicia Spillias and the Irish fiddle from 4-7 p.m.

The Sagebrush Cantina in Calabasas will be holding a celebration on March 17. There will be an all-day Irish-themed menu, drink specials and live entertainment. Select from patty wraps, Reuben’s, beef & beer stew, and corned beef & cabbage, draft Irish beers, including Guinness Stout, and cocktail specials made from fine Irish spirits. Dork takes to the stage at 7 p.m., performing a line up of fun dance tunes. No cover charge. 23527 Calabasas Road.  For more information, call (818) 222-6062 or visit www.sagebrushcantina.com.

The Lab in Agoura Hills will be holding a “St. Patty’s Day Party” on March 17 offering Stout, Whiskey, and Car Bomb Deals all night. There will be authentic food specials such as corned beef and cabbage plus The Acoustic Saints live at 7:30 p.m. with a special celtic acoustic set.
