City of Thousand Oaks Breaks Lego Chain World Record

The City of Thousand Oaks and Play-Well TEKnologies announced Tuesday that they broke the record For the World’s Longest LEGO® Chain. At 902.51 meters, the city broke the previous record of 565 meters set by children in Switzerland in 2003.

On Sept. 27, thousands of people gathered on the grounds of Thousand Oaks City Hall to create the chain. The over 190.000 Lego blocks were donated by Play-Well as well as through local donations, according to Ron Block, chairman of the Rotary Dreamcatcher Playground effort.

The money, raised through participant registration and donations, will go towards the construction and renovation of a state-of-the-art Dreamcatcher Playground at Old Meadows Park for kids with special needs.
