The California Strawberry Festival is reaching out to aspiring Rembrandts with a fruitful proposition. Entries are currently being accepted for the Official Poster Contest of the 32nd annual celebration with a prize purse of $2,000 and four VIP event passes awarded to the winner. The entry deadline is Monday, January 5, in what has become a popular tradition to showcase each season since the Festival began in 1984.
As a revered symbol of the annual strawberry celebration, the poster will be available for purchase event weekend and the design will also adorn collectible t-shirts and promotional items when the seasonal celebration gets underway in Oxnard May 16 and 17, 2015 at Strawberry Meadows of College Park.
Open to all who wish to share their artistic expression, submissions will be viewed by a judging panel looking for creativity and best use of theme while paying tribute to Ventura County’s unique landscape. No more than two entry submissions accepted for consideration from each artist.
All original art work for consideration must be 16.5” wide and 17” high, centered and mounted on a black matte board 18.5” wide and 19” high. The finished product must be reproduction compatible and void of any writing, including the date (the year and event logo will be inserted in production). Contact name on completed form with information should be easily viewed on the back. Prior to the deadline and without exception, entries can be mailed or hand delivered to the Festival office 1661 Pacific Avenue #15, Oxnard, CA 93033. (805-385-4739). The winner will be notified by within two weeks of the deadline. Posters will not be returned and must be picked up from the Festival office any time after the fourth week of January. The winning original design and all rights of the winning design will become the property of the California Strawberry Festival.
Since its inception, the California Strawberry Festival has received numerous awards of recognition. Over the years, more than $4 million dollars has been raised to benefit non-profit groups countywide, while the festival’s “green” initiatives have set a benchmark for responsible event planning.
As a non-profit organization, the Festival is the perfect summer kickoff with proceeds benefiting the community. An all-volunteer board works year-round to produce the weekend celebration where delicious strawberry eats are the main attraction with live entertainment, hundred of arts & crafts, chef presentations, Strawberryland for Kids with free rides and attractions, and more.
