Donations Continue to Come in for Westlake Village Regional Family Park and Triunfo YMCA

Dole-YMCA-rendering-croppedAdditional donors have come forward to contribute to the development of the new Westlake Village Regional Family Park and Triunfo YMCA. The first phase of the park is scheduled to open in spring 2015 with the Y on schedule to open in fall 2015.

Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks is providing $50,000 over five years towards the construction of a Veteran Memorial Gardens, American Monument and flagpole at the park. “Pierce Brothers is continuing its commitment to memorializing the veterans in our community,” said Ronnie Stone, Triunfo YMCA executive director. “Pierce Brothers provides our entire region with a special Memorial Day Weekend service every year dedicated to our veterans with Colonel Jerry Knotts officiating. Jerry and Mary Knotts recently made a gift towards the Wishing Wellness Welcome Entry of the YMCA building.”

Previously, John and Lisa Hopkins donated $100,000 to the Veteran Memorial. “We are very excited to have such a significant tribute site at the park,” said Stone. “We anticipate over 40,000 people will visit the memorial each year to pay tribute to our Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine and Coast Guard service personnel.”

In addition to the memorial donations, the third field scoreboard has been named by the Campbell family. Tamara Campbell is a Realtor with Coldwell Banker and will be president of the Women’s Council of Realtors’ Simi Valley, Conejo Valley and Moorpark chapter for 2015. “To have such a leading Realtor and philanthropic family helping this collaborative project that will benefit the entire area is deeply appreciated, and we are thrilled to have the Campbell family help us complete our scoreboard placements as we near the opening of our baseball/softball sports fields,” Stone said.

The first phase of the community park will feature two lighted synthetic turf baseball/softball fields with an overlay soccer field, restroom/concession facility, a portion of the walking/jogging trail, picnic amenities, skate park facility and tot lot playground.

“The entire park and YMCA, with their wonderful views, gardens and structural designs will be a great addition to the community,” said Stone. “Dole president and CEO, David Murdock, whose initial pledges to the project enabled it to move forward, has the visionary talents for beautifying all the projects he is involved in including the grounds at the Four Seasons, Dole and the Sherwood Country Club. This same reflection of quality and taste are becoming a reality at the park and Y.”

The YMCA will be an intergenerational facility with two indoor pools. The first pool will be an eight-lane, 25-yard lap pool. The second will be a warm water therapy pool that will be used to help people with joint mobility and other medical issues. The design team has given focused attention to special needs families in our community by providing five special needs locker rooms.

The Yarrow Family Fitness Center was dedicated as a lead gift in the early planning stages of this project. “Doug and Penny Yarrow have been with us from the start,” said Stone. “Additional naming opportunities include the Child Watch Center and YMCA activity rooms.”

The partnership of the City of Westlake Village and Triunfo YMCA is still seeking leadership gifts from businesses and individuals. Five-year gifting options are available.
