Cal Lutheran Christmas Festival Concerts in Thousand Oaks

December 2, 2016 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Tickets required for longest-running annual event

California Lutheran University will hold its longest-running annual event, the Christmas Festival Concerts, from Dec. 2 through 4.

The choral ensembles and University String Symphony will present the concert “Veni Emmanuel” at 8 p.m. Dec. 2 and 4 p.m. Dec. 3 and Dec. 4 in Samuelson Chapel on the Thousand Oaks campus. This year’s theme alludes to the original Latin title of the Advent carol “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” which will be featured prominently.

As always, the concert will feature a narrated performance of Christmas music. The program will include lesser-known carols as well as holiday favorites sung by the Cal Lutheran choirs. The audience will be invited to join in.

The choirs will perform music by composers and arrangers including John Ferguson, Dan Forrest, Trevor Manor, Sandra Peter, Francis Poulenc, Andrea Ramsey, John Rutter, Michael John Trotta, Mack Wilberg and David Wiollcocks. The University Symphony will perform excerpts from “Music for the Royal Fireworks” by George Frideric Handel.

Wyant Morton will conduct the choral ensembles. Newly appointed conductor Yoshika Masuda will lead the symphony.

The chapel is located at 165 Chapel Lane near Campus Drive.

Tickets are $15 and must be purchased in advance. For tickets and more information, call the Music Department at 805-493-3305 or visit CalLutheran.edu/music.
