5th Annual Conejo Valley Film Fest at Cal Lutheran, ‘The Three Musketeers’
November 12, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
This year, the annual film festival of movies shot in the Conejo Valley will reach back farther in time than it ever has before with a screening of the 1921 silent film The Three Musketeers at California Lutheran University.
The Fifth Annual Conejo Valley Classic Film Festival event at Cal Lutheran will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, in Richter Hall on the Thousand Oaks campus.
Prior to the film, Cal Lutheran political science professor Herb Gooch will discuss the movie and its star, Douglas Fairbanks.
Based on the 1844 Alexandre Dumas novel, the film was directed by Fred Niblo. The athletic Fairbanks’s one-handed handspring to grab a sword during a fight scene in this film is considered as one of the great stunts of the early cinema period.
The festival begins with a screening of the 1948 film “Jungle Jim” with Johnny Weismuller at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at the Grant R. Brimhall Library and concludes with “Sleepless in Seattle” at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts.
All events are free.
Richter Hall is inside the Ahmanson Science Center, which is located south of Memorial Parkway between Pioneer and Regent avenues.
