Conejo Valley Quilters Biennial Quilt Show at CLU
September 19, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Conejo Valley Quilters will present its biennial show, “A Gathering Under the Oaks,” September 19 & 20, 2015 at California Lutheran University Gilbert Sports Complex, 60 W. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks. Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show will feature over 200 quilts, from traditional to modern, beginners to masters and presented in individual members’ themed showcases.
Our featured artists will be the two women, Margie Fisher and Beth Liederman, who introduced the art of quiltmaking to the Conejo Valley when they opened “The Quilt Inn” in 1978. They will share some of their personal quilts, quilts dating back to the 1800s and memorabilia. The show will include demonstrations of quilting techniques, dozens of quilts for sale, and an extensive vendor mall. Violet Vaughnes, certified AQS appraiser, will be available to provide appraisals daily in the Soiland Hall (written $50 and verbal $25). In addition, children are invited to participate in a scavenger hunt.
Our Opportunity Quilt and themed baskets will be raffled on Sunday. Proceeds will benefit the three local charities supported by the CVQ guild: the Loving Heart Hospice Foundation of Moorpark, My Stuff Bags Foundation, Westlake Village, and Lighthouse for Women and Children, Oxnard. Our demos will include how to make sensory stimulation quilts that benefit Alzheimer and autistic patients. Be sure to visit our Outreach booth to learn more about us and our philanthropic efforts.
Admission $10 covers both days. Parking is free. Refreshments will be available for purchase. conejovalleyquilters.com
