Living With a Cognitive Disability

October 21, 2015 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Free

Has a stroke, traumatic brain injury, or other neurological problem left you wishing you had “your old brain” back? You’re not alone! This event, entitled “Living With a Cognitive Disability,” is free and open to the public. It will provide information about compensatory tools and strategies that can help you be more independent again. It is funded through a Simi Valley Community Development Block Grant that supports Life After Brain Injury’s Independent Living education efforts.

The workshop is part of the new LEARN (Life-skills Essentials and Resource Navigation) series, which aims to educate the brain injury community, service providers, medical professionals, and the general public about such topics as how to access or provide appropriate social services for survivors, and which compensatory strategies and accommodations can enable survivors to live meaningful, satisfying lives in the community. Workshops will be presented in major cities throughout the county over the coming year.
