Present Free Seminar on Living with Alzheimer’s disease

Senior Concerns and the Alzheimer’s Association will host a special seminar on “Living with Alzheimer’s Disease: Mid Stages” as part of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Confident Caregiver Series. The seminar is scheduled for Tuesday, September 15, 2015, 5:30-7:30 p.m. and will be held at Senior Concerns, 401 Hodencamp Road, Thousand Oaks.

Presented by Monica A. Schrader, education and outreach director for the Alzheimer’s Association California Central Chapter, the seminar will focus on behavioral symptoms, wandering and keeping the person with Alzheimer’s safe. Family caregivers will gain a comprehensive understanding of the symptoms and care needs associated with the middle stages of Alzheimer’s disease, the relationship changes that occur as the disease progresses, how to maximize safety, prepare for emergencies and access respite care, and learn effective ways to provide personal care and manage challenging behaviors.

As the education and outreach director, Schrader is the primary educator for the Alzheimer’s Association in Ventura County. She has extensive training from the Association and has taught countless classes to caregivers throughout the county. She serves as the office regional director and is a trained support group facilitator
