Senior Concerns Presents Free Seminar on “Travel Training for Seniors”
March 15, 2016 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
Senior Concerns, as part of its commitment to provide support for family caregivers of aging loved ones, will present a community seminar on “Travel Training for Seniors,” on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, 4-5:30 p.m. at Senior Concerns, 401 Hodencamp Road, Thousand Oaks.
This informative seminar, conducted by Thousand Oaks Transit, will introduce seniors to the array of local and regional transportation options available to get around town in a safe, fast and friendly manner. This seminar is designed specifically for those seniors that have been reluctant to try public transit and the Dial-A-Ride services because they do not know how to use them.
Seminar attendees will learn how to utilize the Thousand Oaks Transit (TOT) bus system and regional bus services such as VCTC Intercity, how Dial-A-Ride works including the new CONNECT InterCity service, how to read bus schedules, identify bus stops, how to plan and pay for a trip, and how to make a transfer or connection between buses or other Dial-A-Ride services. In addition, attendees will learn how to use mobile apps such as Nextbus and Google Trip Planning to make travel easier.
The Travel Training seminar will be conducted by Jose Perez, Mobility Coordinator for Thousand Oaks Transit.
Seating is limited. To make a reservation, please contact Senior Concerns at 805-497-0189. Light refreshments will be served.
