Festival Celebrates Screenwriters, Student Filmmakers

Screenwriter Cinco Paul, a festival judge, presents student Joseph Barton with the evening’s top award for his film “Plain Sight.”

Screenwriters Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio (Despicable Me films, The Secret Life of Pets) hosted the second annual “Best Films Ever Written” film festival at the Agoura High Performing Arts Education Center in Agoura Hills Friday night. Following a screening of their pick, 500 Days of Summer, Paul, an Agoura Hills resident, and Daurio interviewed the film’s screenwriter, Scott Neustadter.

The evening also showcased the first annual Student Film Festival, presented by the Agoura Hills Cultural Arts Council. The top award went to Agoura High senior Joseph Barton for Plain Sight, a spooky thriller reminiscent of Stranger Things.
