Want to climb aboard a fire truck? Watch how a car fire is extinguished? Witness the jaws of life? The Agoura Hills Department of Community Services and the Los Angeles County Fire Department (L.A.F.D.) is hosting a Public Safety Day at Fire Station No. 89. This special open house promotes the local safety and emergency services available within the community. Ambulance services, local law enforcement agencies and the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District will also be giving demonstrations at the family-oriented open house.
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), a group of local citizens who volunteer their time to be trained and prepared to assist the community during an emergency, will also be participating. Local representatives will have information about CERT and how it responds after the occurrence of a natural or man made disaster.
In addition to learning all about safety and emergency preparedness, the open house will offer a climbing wall, refreshments and disc jockey. Public Safety Day is a free event and takes place on May 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 pm. Fire Station No. 89 is located at 29575 Canwood St., Agoura Hills.
