Join the ‘BreastCar’ to Raise Funds and Awareness For Cancer Research

File-Apr-26-9-22-05-PMA pink-wrapped Tesla dubbed “BreastCar” will be in and around he Conejo Valley to raise money and awareness for the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation’s innovative programs focused on the cause and prevention of breast cancer. Brainchild of Dr. Ian Taras, a Woodland Hills-based ob/gyn, @BreastCar (Facebook, Instagram & Twitter) will be making appearances now through the end of June, accepting donations for the chance to sign the car.

Taras, who carries the BRCA gene mutation, is honorary chair of the Foundation’s annual signature 5K walk/run, Walk with Love, which takes place May 17. “A pink Tesla is pretty hard to miss,” said Taras. “Wrapping the car is symbolic of our need to focus more funding and effort on stopping breast cancer before it starts. It’s also about getting more people to take action—by doing things like making a donation and signing the car, by participating in research like Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation’s Health of Women (HOW) Study™ or through their Army of Women®, or by forming a team themselves and fundraising for Walk with Love.”

Taras’ mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at 47, and he and his sister,Lorelle Taras-Schirn, discovered they carry the BRCA gene mutation. Taras-Schirn had a prophylactic mastectomy to reduce her risk of breast and ovarian cancer. For the past dozen years, Taras and his team have raised over $600,000 for research into women’s cancers. Last year, they raised $50,000 and this year alone they hope to raise $100,000!

“I love my doctor,” said actress and author Candace Cameron Bure (Full House), Taras’ patient. “Join Dr. Taras in raising funds for breast cancer research at” Bure has over 10,000 ‘likes’ on her Instagram page with the “BreastCar” and over 120,000 views of her Facebook video with it.
