The Foundation for Las Virgenes Schools is hosting a Back to School Carnival next month in Agoura Hills, bringing three days of family fun and entertainment to the community. The event will take place at Whizin Market Square (28914 Roadside Drive) September 12-14.
“Our main fundraiser is The Event in June at the Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center, and that’s for adults only,” said Deanna Glassberg, The Foundation president. “We thought it would be nice to have an event that would appeal to people of all ages. The Carnival is a way to unite our entire community in support of our schools while having fun at the same time.”
Admission to the event is free and proceeds benefit the local schools. “Over the past three years, [The Foundation] has supported the Las Virgenes Unified School District by raising more than three quarters of a million dollars in privately donated funds to hire classroom teachers, reduce classroom sizes and expand counseling programs,” Glassberg said.
According to their mission statement, The Foundation’s goal is to help ensure that every child, in every school in our community has the opportunities and resources to succeed and reach their full potential. “We believe that at the base of a strong community is a strong school district,” said Glassberg. “Many people moved to this area for the quality schools and we believe they will come out to support them.”
Glassberg promises that The Carnival will offer fun for the entire family. “There will be rides for all ages including a ferris wheel, fun house, gigantic slide, and many more,” she said. There will also be great food and a variety of games and prizes.
