Nina, a 9-year-old female German Shepherd and her mirror image brother, came to the Agoura Hills Animal Shelter because of the caring intervention of a neighborhood and a local real estate agent. The pair was brought to the shelter because their owners abandoned them.
For a month or so the folks in their old neighborhood fed Nina and Rocky, because they thought their owners would return, but when the house was sold, the real estate agent brought them to the shelter to make sure they were safe and to help them find their forever home.
Rocky, Nina’s brother, appeared on television last week and was quickly chosen for adoption. Unfortunately, Nina couldn’t go with her brother, so now she is alone once again, and the staff and volunteers hope a caring family or individual will quickly adopt her.
Here are some things you should know about her:
·      She knows how to sit.
·      She gets along with all the volunteers that she has met.
·      She walks great on leash.
·      She doesn’t pull or zigzag while going for a walk.
·      She loves to be brushed.
·      She loves to just lie at someone’s feet and watch the world go by.
While her history is unknown, she may have been kept as an outdoor dog because she was initially a bit hesitant to wander into the shelter’s real room, but she should quickly acclimate to an indoor environment. She has very thick fur and during the hot days of summer, an indoor place for her will keep her comfortable.
She really enjoys yard time, especially when she was able to spend it with her brother. So if you have a dog at home, bring it with you so you can assess their compatibility.
She has been seen by a private veterinarian and is deemed healthy and ready to go. However, she needs to lose some weight. The volunteers have started her on a diet plan where she is on weight loss kibble that is measured out for her, and she is doing extra laps around the shelter for exercise. She has already begun to slim down.
Nina is a sweet, beautiful girl who is looking for her forever home. Could that be with you? Ask to meet her and see for yourself how amazing she is.
