Pet Spotlight: Toby Needs a Loving Family

Bill Harris (filling in for Helen Hartel)

Toby is a six-year old male Puggle (a Pug-Beagle mix) who came to the Agoura Shelter this week. He is neutered, and the owners told us he gets along with other dogs and cats but had a problem with one of the dogs at home, so they had to give him up. They also said he playful with small children and good in the car.

Since Toby’s been at the shelter only a short time, the volunteers haven’t had a chance to get to know him well, but this writer had some quality time with him during his photo shoot and found him to be easy going, great on the leash, affectionate (came up and sat on my lap, giving me a “chin bath”), sat when asked and had no issues being held and petted.

Toby has not had a chance to acclimate to the routine at the Shelter, and hopefully, he’ll find a new home right away and won’t have to. We were told he spent most of his time outdoors, so he is only partially housebroken. With some additional training and using a crate, he will probably learn quickly to be an indoor pup (something we recommend for all small dogs).

If you are interested in meeting Toby (ID# 3634372), please come to the Agoura Animal Shelter, 29525 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills. Occasionally pets have already been adopted. To check availability, call 818-991-0071 or visit animalcare.lacounty.gov.
