These two brothers are Bugzy and Taz. They are 9-year-old male Otterhound mixes that were transferred from another shelter. The volunteers there thought they were so cool. (It isn’t every day you see an Otterhound at a shelter.) They fell in love with the pair and sent them to Agoura, because it was thought that with all the wide-open spaces and the high adoption rate, they would have a much better chance of finding their forever home. We sure hope they are right, but the dogs have been waiting for the right person to come along for two months.

For five years, Bugzy and Taz had a home, but they were kept outside and considered outdoor dogs. At least they had each other for companionship. As you can imagine they are now totally bonded; they even share a regular size kennel at the shelter and these two boys, although lean, are large.

Here are some things you should know about them:

  • They are housebroken.

  • They walk well on leash and it is easy to walk both at the same time.
  • They know sit.
  • They are gentle and not overly active.
  • They have not been socialized with other dogs, just each other.
  • They have not been around kids.

Worried about adopting older dogs? Since coming to Agoura they were seen by a private vet for a senior wellness check-up. Bugzy needed to have a benign lump removed, but other than that, all was deemed normal and their blood work results were fine. They are good to go!
