Once again, the annual California Strawberry Festival drew crowds from far and near.
Held at the Strawberry Meadows of College Park in Oxnard, the two-day festival on May 17 and 18 had something for everyone. There was live entertainment as well as various contests, including pie-eating, a strawberry tart toss, a berry best strawberry hat, a relay race, strawberry shortcake build-off and a berry best-dressed baby.
The lines were long, as expected, at the funnel cake and chocolate-dipped strawberries booths. Kids were drawn to Strawberryland, a magical oasis of rides and entertainment. Even Strawberry Shortcake, the reigning princess of Strawberryland, was seen strolling the grounds all-weekend long for “high-five” and photo opportunities.
The annual Strawberry Fest is ranked among the top festivals in the nation and proceeds from the event benefits more than 20 Southland charities.
