By Mira Reverente

The annual Ventura County Fair is back! For 12 days, expect to find the usual fun–carnival rides, funnel cakes, farm animals and free concerts.

Dubbed “A Country Fair with Ocean Air,” the VC Fair opened last Thursday and will run through Sunday, August 10, at the Ventura County Fairgrounds, 10 W. Harbor Blvd. in Ventura.

The legendary Beach Boys performed to an SRO crowd last Thursday at the grandstand. It was the the group’s eighth time to perform at the fair, and actor John Stamos graced the stage and played the drums for a few sets.

Children ages 12 and under were admitted free all-day on Friday for Youth Day. Other special admission days include seniors and persons with disabilities (free all-day on Tuesday, August 5) and military (free all-day on Thursday, August 7).

This year’s highlights include the Barenaked Ladies concert on Monday, August 4; Tony Orlando and Deep Purple on Tuesday, August 5, and Jake Owen on Thursday, August 7. The much-awaited Junior Livestock Auction will take place this Friday, August 8.

The fair opens at 11 a.m. every day. For tickets and more info, please click here.
