In conjunction with this month’s One City, One Book program, a special installation, “It Began at the Kitchen Table,” is currently on display in the Fireside Room at the Agoura Hills Public Library through May 4.
The exhibit was inspired by “J.D. Power who started his business around his kitchen table in the 60s,” said Cim Castellon, city historian.
Photos, artifacts, descriptions and timelines on six local enterprises illustrate how each was initially formed and how their growth over time resulted in their successes today. The Acorn Newspaper, Screenwriter Cinco Paul (Despicable Me, Lorax, etc.), and the City of Agoura Hills are among the success stories that, like J.D. Power and Associates, started around a kitchen table.
