The Event, an annual fundraising food and wine-tasting gala for the Las Virgenes Unified School District, is returning to Calabasas in 2016. This year, however, there will be some major changes.‘The Event will be celebrating its fifth year anniversary at a spectacular new venue, a few surprises and as always, an elegant and unforgettable evening of food, wine, auctions and entertainment,” said Jen Levinson, The Event co-chair.
The Event 2016 will be held May 21st at the Calabasas Civic Center.“The city center will be transformed into a sophisticated block-party setting under the stars featuring chic dining and lounge areas throughout the gorgeous courtyard and tree-lined streets,” said Evelina Christopherson, The Event co-chair.
Guests will enjoy tastings from premier local restaurants and wineries while perusing must-have, one-of-a-kind auction items during the silent auction. New elements for the 2016 soiree will include a beer garden featuring local craft breweries and an intimate, farm-to-table dining experience. The evening will culminate with a live concert performance by Pine Mountain Logs (aka Venice) that will literally have you dancing in the street, which will be closed to traffic.
All proceeds raised will benefit The Foundation for Las Virgenes Schools, according to Deanna Glassberg, The Foundation president. “I love The Event because it brings our community together unlike any other event,” she said. “Many of us moved here for the schools and when I see so many parents, community members and local business coming out to support our kids and our schools it warms my heart.”
Over the past four years, The Foundation has donated over a million dollars to the help manage class sizes and increase counseling programs at all 16 schools in the district.
