Voice Chorale Selling Tickets to Jazz and Wine Fest to Benefit Local Schools

Village Voices LogoVillage Voices, a 70-voice chorale that rehearses in Westlake and performs primarily at the Scherr Forum Theatre, in the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, is selling tickets for this weekend’s California Jazz and Wine Fest.

“Fifty percent of the proceeds go to fund all the non profit programs that they support,” said Laura Moss, a Village Voice member. “They give grants to local elementary schools to promote music education and they give out scholarships to local college kids who are voice majors.”

The Village Voices Chorale has been presenting songs to the community since 1969, said Ron Kula, Village Voice president. “Our mission is simple: bring the joy and power of music to the community,” he said.
They accomplish their goals through local performances, grants to local elementary school choral programs and scholarships to college students majoring in voice. Recipients of school district grants include Las Virgenes Unified, Conejo Unified and Oak Park Unified.
“To date, we have donated over $148,000 to our scholarship and grant programs,” Kula said.
