Friday

Free Family Space Day Event at Janss Marketplace: Explore outer space without leaving Thousand Oaks! The public is invited to the FREE Family Space Day event at Janss Marketplace which will be open on Friday, May 8, from 3-7 p.m. and Saturday, May 9, from 12-4 p.m.

59th Annual Conejo Valley Days: The 59th Annual Conejo Valley Days in Thousand Oaks, celebrates the area’s western roots and community spirit. The four-day event features entertainment for kids, teens and the whole family including carnival rides, games, live entertainment, a western saloon and a food court. Live entertainment and hands-on exhibits are included with general admission.

 Saturday

The Oaks Mile 1 Mile Race and 5K: Compete against friends in your age group, do the family fun run, or race against the areas best athletes in the elite race. The Oaks Mile encourages youth to run and supports local youth running programs. 5K starts at 8 a.m. Competitive Mile and Family Fun Run start at 9 a.m.

Fire Service & Public Safety Day: The Agoura Hills Department of Community Services and the Los Angeles County Fire Department (L.A.F.D.) is hosting a Public Safety Day at Fire Station No. 89 May 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This special open house promotes the local safety and emergency services available within the community.

Westlake Hills Elementary’s Carnival & Family Fun Day: Westlake Hills Elementary’s carnival and Family Fun Day will be held from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Support a local school while your family has a blast! This year’s theme is the Wild, Wild, West and will not disappoint! Join us for a day filled with inflatable horse derbies, carnival games, arts & crafts, face painting, raffle, silent auction, delicious food and much, MUCH more!

Free ‘Frozen’ Screening at Reyes Adobe: The City of Agoura Hills is hosting a free screening of Frozen at Reyes Adobe Park, 30400 Rainbow Crest Drive, at dusk.

Drive-In Movie Screening of ‘Big Hero 6′ at Oak Park High School: The screening takes place from 8-10 p.m.

New West Symphony at the Civic Arts Plaza: New West Symphony will complete its 20th season with Mozart Great Mass in C Minor. The orchestra will also debut New West Fanfare by Local Composer Craig Zobelein.

 

 Sunday 

Cultural Workshop at Satwiwa Center: Learn how to make a Tongva word animal bracelet. Materials will be provided. All ages are welcome.

Free Concert at Peter Strauss Ranch: The National Park Service’s annual Sunday Concerts in the Park will kick off at 4 p.m. featuring local bands the Hanydymen and the Chance Bands playing songs from the Eagles, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan the Byrds, Mavericks and others.
