Weekend Guide: Celebration of Hope, Munch Madness and The Temptations

Friday

$5 Friday! Spring Fever: On the third Friday of each month, Art Trek opens their studio to art projects built around changing themes. Each month offers at least five art stations of differing materials, drawing, painting, sculpting, origami, fabric and wire sculpture—to name a few. Participants spend the evening at the stations of their choice. They can participate in one or all of the projects. At the end of the evening everyone has a bountiful stash of finished work to carry home to keep them inspired. 

Game and Trivia Night @ The Garage: The Agoura Hills Recreation & Event Center is hosting Game and Trivia Night for middle school students on Friday March 20th. The event runs from 6-10 p.m. and registration is $12. A parent or legal guardian must register their child in order to participate. 

Parents Enjoy Night Out, While Kids Become Chefs at Triunfo YMCA: Parents can enjoy a night out while their kids cook and take part in arts and crafts activities on Friday, March 20, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., at the Triunfo YMCA daycare facility at Yerba Buena Elementary School (6098 Reyes Adobe Rd., Agoura). 

The Temptations at the Canyon Club: Showtime is at 9 p.m.

Saturday

Arbor Day Celebration at Gates Canyon Park Calabasas: Residents are welcome to come out and get involved in helping to create a beautiful and healthy environment from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Gates Canyon Park (25901 Thousand Oaks Blvd, Calabasas). Participate in tree planting for kids, tree planting ceremony and more.

One Mile Hike at Santa Monica Mountains Interagency Center: Take a one-mile loop hike with a ranger. Bring water. Meet by the fountain at 10 a.m. 

Spring Equinox Program at Satwiwa Native American Indian Culture Center: Enjoy Spring Equinox with Ted and Dennis Garcia from 12-1 p.m.  Enjoy storytelling and singing songs. 

Kingsmen Shakespeare Company Performs at Thousand Oaks Library: Kingsmen Shakespeare Company’s popular Shakespeare Educational Tour (S.E.T.) is coming to the Thousand Oaks Library on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 2 p.m.

5th Annual Agoura IB Munch Madness International Street Fair: Explore the sights, sounds and tastes of our evening street fair with friends and families. It’s the ultimate mobile gourmet experience, where more than a dozen of LA’s top food trucks offer fantastic eats, with live concerts and entertainment, street performers, prizes, fireworks, and more. 

“Celebration of Hope” Show, Marathon: Agoura High will be hosting two landmark events on Saturday, March 21, to raise money for several worthy causes. Beginning at 8 a.m., Kids Helping Kids Agoura will present a “Celebration of Hope” marathon, which will include a celebrity-filled event at the Performing Arts Education Center, emceed by actor/philanthropist Rainn Wilson (The Office, Backstrom). 

 

 Sunday 

Kids Ranch Brand Program at Rancho Sierra Vista/Satwiwa: Kids, ages 5 and up, learn history of Rancho Sierra Vista’s ranch brand and the importance of different ranch brands in the area. “Brand” and decorate your own leather wristband. 

10th Annual Friendship Walk in Agoura Hills: Join in the 10th Annual Friendship Walk on Sunday, March 22, 2015. The event is sponsored by the Friendship Circle of Agoura Hills, a non-profit organization which provides programming for children with special needs and their families. 

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley 12th Annual Superstars of the Year Celebration: The community is invited to attend one of the signature events for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley – ‘12th Annual Superstars of the Year Celebration’. The public is invited to attend this free, annual event, which is open to all ages and recognizes local youth and volunteers who have made a significant contribution. The event takes place on Sunday, March 22 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Fred Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.
