Weekend Guide: County Fair, Springsteen Tribute and Fishing Frenzy

Friday

139th Annual Ventura County Fair: The fair features arts, crafts, food, exhibits, displays, demonstrations, farm animals, petting zoo, carnival rides, games and entertainment. More information at www.VenturaCountyFair.org. General Admission Prices: Adults (13 to 64) $12, Children 6-12 $9, Seniors 65 and older $9. Children 5 and under admitted free (well…as long as accompanied by an adult).

The Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival: The Kingsmen Shakespeare Company is dedicated to presenting professional programs and performances of the works of William Shakespeare for the education and entertainment of people of all ages.  Performances are on the campus of California Lutheran University.For online lawn box reservations follow the links below. Bruce Springsteen Tribute at the Canyon: Boss In The USA performs the music of Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band. Opening set by ‘The Good Deeds.” Click here for ticket information.

 

 Saturday

805 Dash 4 A Cure 5K/10K Fun Run in Newbury Park: 805 Dash 4 A Cure 5K/10K Fun Run is planned for Saturday, August 2nd at 8am at Road Runner Sports, 2714 Newbury Road, Newbury Park. The event is hosted by Road Runner Sports and all proceeds benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. There will be munchies, raffles and 805 Beer at the finish line. Fishing Frenzy: The District will be releasing hundreds of magnetic fish into the creek!  Have fun participating in arts & crafts, fishing with magnetic fish and pole, and exploring Captain Carl’s Mobile Tide Pool! $5 per child  (2013 fee; 2014 fee TBA) For more information, please call (805) 381-2793 or email [email protected]

Meet ‘Happening’ Editor, Author at Costco Book-Signing: Join CV Happening editor and author Susan Pascal for a Costco book signing of Images of America: Agoura Hills. With a foreword by Sen. Fran Pavley, the book boasts more than 200 vintage images including the diverse landscape. The event takes place at Costco, 5700 Lindero Canyon Road, Westlake Village, from 1-3 p.m. 

 

Sunday 

Kids Club – Powered by National Geographic Kids The Oaks Kids Club is a great opportunity for your child to learn in a fun, interactive setting. We’ve teamed up with National Geographic Kids to create activities and games that focus on discovery through play.

All Kids Club events will take place in the JCPenney Court area at 10:00 am unless otherwise stated.  Entertainers maybe subject to change.
Family/ Kid’s Yoga at Samadi Yoga: Take the kids to Samadi Yoga Westlake Village this Sunday, July 27th at 12 p.m. for Family and Kid’s Yoga class.
Ambrosia to Perform at Concerts in the Park: “Ambrosia” will be the featured artist performing on Sunday, August 3th. The Concert Supporter for this concert is Crunchies Food Company.  All concerts begin on Sundays at 6 p.m., and are held at Chumash Park, located at 5550 Medea Valley Drive in Agoura Hills.  These concerts are free to the public.
