Weekend Guide: Reyes Adobe Days, Habicat Cafe and Fall Harvest Festival

Weekend Guide IconSo much fun, so little time! Here are our Happening’s picks for the weekend and as always, don’t forget to check out our calendar daily for lots of fresh ideas. 

 

 

Friday

Harvest Original Art & Craft Show: The much-anticipated seasonal event is a coveted fall tradition complete with three buildings bursting with hundreds of captivating arts & crafts and specialty foods at Seaside Park. The event runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Dick Van Dyke Fan Art Exhibit: Meet Hollywood icon Dick Van Dyke, watch him perform live with the Vantastix and view an exhibit of his fan art at the Malibu Playhouse. Starts at 5 p.m.

Night at the Adobe: A casually elegant evening of art, music, wine, beer, food and shopping at the magical Reyes Adobe Historical Site with featured artist Michael Cook (aka Cookie) along with live street artists. The event runs from 6-9 p.m.

 

Saturday

RAD Runs 10K and 10 Miler in Agoura Hills: Celebrate the Reyes Adobe Days by running this one of a kind course featuring historic and scenic views of the Santa Monica Mountains and Agoura Hills. Race begins at City Hall passing by our beautiful National and State Parks including Paramount Ranch and Malibu Creek State Park. The 10-Miler continues through beautiful Malibou Lake and onto scenic Mulholland Hwy before returning to an exciting finish back at City Hall. Races to take place 7-11 a.m.

Reyes Adobe Days Parade: The annual Agoura Hills parade will travel from the northern most point of Reyes Adobe Road and travel one mile to the festivities waiting at Reyes Adobe Park beginning at 10 a.m. Grab your seat anywhere along Reyes Adobe Road for an up close view at the spectacular entries.

Westlake Village Century: The Westlake Village Century 40 and 100 mile rides are presented by Stonehaus at the Westlake Village Inn on Saturday, October 3, 2015. In addition to the rides, there will be live music, lunch, a beer and wine tasting expo and more.

Fall Harvest Festival at Underwood Farms: Underwood Family Farms’ 18th Annual Fall Harvest Festival runs October 3-31 this year. Friends of the Farm Weekend is back October 3 & 4. Proceeds will help benefit The Ventura County Sheriff’s Charity Organization Cops Running for Charity and The Ventura County Fire Department’s Charity Groups. There will be demonstrations including fire trucks, ambulances, tank type vehicle, bomb squad with their bomb robot, police car/motorcycle and much more.

Habicat Cafe Event: Enjoy coffee, tea and treats in the Habicat at the Agoura Hills Animal Shelter from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Take a tour and learn about the cat adoption center. Spend time with the cats in the Habicat. There will be dog and farm animal tours, too. Cat adoptions will be available and all are welcome.

Reyes Adobe Days Festival in Agoura Hills: The event is held at the landmark Reyes Adobe Historical Site, an original California rancho built in 1845 now a museum, located in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains. Many of the events are free and include: a petting zoo, pony rides, Art @ the Adobe and live entertainment. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Voices of Old Conejo 1958 Living History Show at Stagecoach Inn Museum: Equal parts history lesson and theater, “Voices of Old Conejo 1958″ takes audiences down memory lane of the Conejo Valley in the 1950’s. This is an entertaining and educational production airing all new scenes this year. Take a walk back in time to 1958 and meet some of the trailblazers that developed the Conejo Valley into the beautiful place it is to live today.

Sounds of Conejo, A Celebration of Marching Bands: A Marching Band Field Show Exhibition, SOUNDS OF CONEJO, will feature the performances of Buena, Camarillo, Moorpark, Newbury Park, Oak Park, Royal, Simi Valley, Westlake, and Thousand Oaks High Schools’ Marching Bands. The 8th Annual SOUNDS OF CONEJO Marching Band Celebration will be held at the Thousand Oaks High School Football Stadium on Saturday, October 3, 2015.
