Friday

8th Annual Calabasas Malibu Wine & Food Festival:  The event takes place at the Calabasas Country Club, 4515 Park Entrada. from 6-11 p.m. Enjoy an afternoon of food, wine, beer and spirits in beautiful Malibu & Calabasas. VIP after-party tickets also available. Inspiration Point Hike in Calabasas: Take this easy/moderate one mile roundtrip hike to Inspiration Point. Bring water and sunscreen. Meet by fountain at the Santa Monica Mountains Interagency Visitor Center at 10 a.m. 

Insects & Bugs Program for Kids at Thousand Oaks Library:  Andre, the Science Guy, from Creative Science Education, will teach school age children the differences between insects and bugs by playing funny interactive games. It’s a Summer Reading Club Super Saturday event. The program takes place from 11-11:45 a.m. at Grant R. Brimhall Library and 2-2:45 p.m.–Newbury Park Branch.

Star Parties Hosted by Oak Canyon Astronomy Group in Oak Park: Oak Canyon Astronomy Group Star Parties are presented from 7-10 p.m. at Oak Canyon Park, 5600 Hollytree Drive in Oak Park and are free to the public. The mission of the group is to bring an awareness of amateur astronomy to the community by showing what they can actually see in the night sky. Sunday 
94th Midsummer Festival at Vasa Park in Agoura HillsThe Swedish American Central Association of Southern California presents the 94th Midsummer Festival at Vasa Park, 2854 Triunfo Canyon Road in Agoura Hills. The park opens at 8:30 a.m. and the event runs to 4 p.m. There will be a “Continental” Cold Breakfast, lots of food, swimming, a water slide, zip line, folk dancing, and Scandinavian vendors. 
Medicinal Plant Walk at Santa Monica Mountains Interagency Visitor Center (RSVP reqd): Professor Jim Adams, PhD, of the USC School of Pharmacy will lead a walk to share the medicinal uses of California plants at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Santa Monica Mountains Interagency Visitor Center in Calabasas.
