Agoura Hills Announces New Dial-A-Ride Service for Residents

(The following is from a press release)

IMG_8862The city of Agoura Hills announced that it has contracted with a new transit service, MV Transportation, to operate the city’s Dial-A-Ride program. Founded in 1975 to provide public transportation for people with disabilities, MV Transportation, Inc. operates in more than 130 locations, including the Disneyland Anaheim Resort. The new contract between Thousand Oaks Transit/MV Transportation and the City of Agoura Hills will continue to provide the same door-to-door service the community enjoys now.

“MV Transportation has a great reputation for dependability and safety, and we hope residents will take advantage of the service,” said Amy Brink, director of community services.

The Dial-A-Ride program is open to all residents of Agoura Hills, providing deluxe door-to-door transportation with vans that have low floors for senior-friendly boarding and wheelchair accessible ramps. Children 10 and older may ride alone and babies may ride in their own car seats.

Transportation routes cover Agoura Hills and Malibou Lake, as well as popular destination service to Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks and Woodland Hills, including Kaiser and Los Robles Medical Centers. Target in Westlake Village is also on the service route.

To promote the new service provider, Agoura Hills Department of Community Services is offering residents a “friends-ride-free” fare. Starting Monday, July 20th, during the summer, youth can get to the new teen center, movies and malls. “Dial-A-Ride is a great community service for kids whose parents work as well for seniors to get around town or to doctor appointments,” Brink said.

Riders are advised to make appointments a day in advance, but the vans will pick up on a moment’s notice if available. One-way trip cost is $1.50 within city limits and $3 to locations outside city boundaries. The vans operate from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday – Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. (No Sunday or holiday service.) To schedule a ride, call Dial-A-Ride at (818) 707-2005.

Information on all services provided by Dial-A-Ride including a complete schedule of times and how to reserve rides can be found on the city’s website at
