Give her the gift of blooms
There are plenty of florists in the Conejo Valley that will arrange for mom to have her favorite flowers delivered right to her door. From the traditional red roses and even tulips to hydrangeas, gift baskets and balloons, there’s always a wide selection that’s sure to bring a smile to any mom’s face.
Make her a decadent brunch
Our own Chef Lala shares this recipe from her kitchen:
1⁄4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon milk
6 slices whole wheat bread
3 teaspoons thinly sliced fruit, berries or low-sugar fruit preserves 6 ounces skim milk cheese (queso fresco) or goat cheese, thinly sliced 1 cup fresh fruit, sliced or diced
1 cooking spray
* In a bowl large enough to dip the bread, whisk the
eggs, cinnamon and milk together.
* Cut each piece of bread into four pieces with a knife
or cookie cutter.
* Dip the bread in the egg mixture moistening both sides.
* Heat a non-stick pan and coat with cooking spray.
* Cook the bread for 2-3 minutes on each side until
* Spread fruit on one side of each slice of bread.
* Place cheese on top of the fruit.
* Cover with a second piece of bread.
* Repeat with remaining bread, cheese and fruit.
* Serve with fruit.
Plan a sightseeing trip
There are amazing places right here in the Conejo Valley like our historic Reyes and Leonis Adobes or Paramount Ranch, followed by window shopping at the Commons in Calabasas or the Promenade in Westlake Village, or maybe a walk through Agoura Hills’ Antique Mall. Plan a few visits and take a candid photo in each place. Later, make it into an album, which you can give to her on Mother’s Day.
Take mom out to one of our many luxurious beauty spas for anything from a simple mani/pedi to a full day with a facial and the works. If that is not in the budget, plan an in-home spa day complete with foot soaks and face masks.
The Conejo Valley offers lots of great restaurants, but we also have several places that offer cooking classes. Why not take a cooking class together? You might end up creating your own, new family recipes!
