Girls Night Out, Screening of ‘Finding Kind’
September 18, 2015 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
The City of Agoura Hills, in collaboration with the 91301 cultural arts program, is now taking reservations for Girl’s Night Out coming Friday, September 18. Hosted by the city, Girls Night Out is a special evening of shopping, primping and pampering followed by the screening of Finding Kind, a documentary on the topic of female bullying. Moms, daughters, best friends—all women are invited to take part in the fun while learning about the impact of female aggression that affects both young girls and older women.
From 5-7 p.m., participants will enjoy complimentary sessions from local beauty experts that include eyebrow shaping and hair styling; shopping for jewelry, t-shirts, and beauty items; enjoying a catered selection of goodies and entertainment.
At 7 p.m., Finding Kind will screen at the new Agoura Hills Recreation and Event Center. The nationally released movie is by two Pepperdine students, Lauren Paul and Molly Thompson, who traveled across America interviewing hundreds of females about the “mean girl” phenomenon and sharing what they learned about our culture’s influence on the issue. With their goal of establishing a national school program for girls, Paul and Thompson hope to put an end to the hate. “One hundred percent of girls and women have been the victim of bullying, a target, the aggressor or both,” says Paul, adding, “it’s a universal issue.” The women have also founded a KIND campaign to raise awareness. Last year, in alignment with the Breaking Bad series finale urging fans to support the Kind campaign, the organization raised $1.3 million. Because of language and content, Finding Kind is recommended for students in and above middle school, ages 11 years and up.
Girls Night Out is free to attend. To RSVP, please call (818) 597-7361 or email [email protected] For more information, visit www.91301.org/events/gno.
