Newbury Park H.S. Theater Dept Presents ‘Alice’s Adventures’
May 14, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, directed by NPHS Drama Teacher, Marilyn Strange.
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is a dramatic conglomeration of three of the Alice novels by Lewis Carroll: Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found. This unique, family-friendly adaptation was created especially for the Newbury Park High School Panther Players by local playwright, Nathaniel Shea.
Drama teacher and director, Marilyn Strange, describes this play as “in-between the Disney and Tim Burton versions” of the Alice story. Student actors are working with a dialect coach as the story takes place in Victorian England.
This production will also feature student-constructed costumes, special effects, and puppetry. NPHS student Melody Hellard heads up the costume design team. Miss Hellard was recently featured in episode 14 of In A Galaxy, an original series for Verizon’s Go90 app, where she worked with Ashley Eckstein, creator of the popular Her Universe clothing line.
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland runs on May 12, 13, 14, 19, and 20 at 7 p.m., with one matinee show on May 14th at 2 p.m.
All performances will take place in the Performing Arts Center on the campus of Newbury Park High School at 456 Reino Rd. in Newbury Park.
