Senior Concerns Presents Free Seminar on Navigating the Medical Arena – What You Need to Know Now

April 26, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Senior Concerns, as part of its commitment to provide support for family caregivers of aging loved ones, will present a community seminar on “Navigating the Medical Arena – What You Need to Know Now,” on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, 5:30-7 p.m. at Senior Concerns, 401 Hodencamp Road, Thousand Oaks.

This seminar will be presented by Betty Berry and Charna Posin, Senior Advocates with Senior Concerns’ Senior Advocacy Program.

During the seminar, you’ll learn how to prepare for doctor visits and hospital stays, including learning how to clearly describe your concerns to the doctor, what insurance will really cover and what triggers to avoid, and how to make the best choices for you and your loved one. In addition, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of post-hospital rehabilitation and home health care.

Betty Berry brings a deep understanding of senior issues to her position as Senior Advocate for Senior Concerns. She has advocated for seniors since 1993. She currently serves on the Conejo Senior Volunteer Program (CSVP) Advisory Board and authors the Senior Advocate column that appears in the Ventura County Star every Wednesday. Betty completed her undergraduate degree at California Lutheran University and earned her Juris Doctorate degree at Ventura College of Law.

Charna Posin is Certified Senior Advisor and Patient Advocate at Senior Concerns. Prior to joining Senior Concerns, Charna specialized in disability income benefits. She is also a hospice educator and holds a certificate in Heart Touch, a mindful form of touch therapy based on a profound respect for the physical and psychological needs of the individual.

Seating is limited. To make a reservation, please contact Senior Concerns at 805-497-0189. Light refreshments will be served. A donation of $10 is requested to cover the cost of program materials.
