Thousand Oaks Arbor/Earth Day Celebration

Thousand Oaks 19th Annual Arbor/Earth Day Celebration is set for Saturday, April 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at a new location – Thousand Oaks Community Park, 2525 N. Moorpark Road, next to Thousand Oaks High School.

To kick-off the Festival, there will be a Chumash Blessing Ceremony at 10 a.m. led by Chumash leader Ted Garcia and local officials including Mayor Joel Price. The 2016 entertainment line-up includes The Coveralls Band at 10:15 a.m., two environmental vaudeville shows by Earthcapades at 11:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. The Conejo Drum Circle will lead an audience participation drum circle at 12:15 p.m. Rounding out the afternoon will be music from the popular Southern California reggae band Urban Dread beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Animal shows from the Moorpark College Teaching Zoo will be at noon and from the Nature of Wildworks at 2 p.m. on the community center patio.

This family Festival will feature exhibitors and vendors that will provide tips and products to help families to “Go Green.” There will be freebiochar workshops, and booths with children’s activities, park rangers. garden clubs, and new technology vehicles. The Glenn Garvin Memorial Bike Rodeo will be held at the event again this year. Ride your bikes to participate and take advantage of our free bike valet service while you attend the festival or grab a bite to eat from the various food vendors, including the Grilled Cheese Truck and Sweet Arleen’s Cupcakes. You can also take a ride on a new electric bike courtesy of Pedego Electric Bike Company and so much more from our close to 100 vendors and exhibitors.

Arbor/Earth Day is presented by the City of Thousand Oaks and the Conejo Recreation and Park District. Join us on April 16 as we learn to “Go Green” together. This event is free to the public with free parking. Sponsors include Waste Management, Whole Foods Thousand Oaks, Home Depot, Ventura County Star, The Acorn and Edible Ojai & Ventura County.
