‘Wings to Fly: Frida Kahlo’ at Westlake Village Library
January 30, 2016 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Join us at the Westlake Village Library on Saturday, January 30, 2015 from 2-3:30 p.m. for a free performance of “Wings to Fly: Frida Kahlo.” In this entertaining multi-media presentation, Dr. Gloria Arjona will explore the life and works of artist Frida Kahlo while live musicians play the folk music that influenced Kahlo’s art.
A brave woman who was an invalid most of her life, painter Frida Kahlo transformed herself into a living work of art. As famous for her art as she was for her marriage to painter Diego Rivera, Kahlo was inspired by the culture and history of her homeland, Mexico. Her paintings continue to influence popular culture around the world.
Dr. Gloria Arjona teaches Spanish literature and language at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena.
Teens ages 12-18, adults.
Sponsored by the Friends of the Westlake Village Library.
