In conjunction with its One City, One Book 2014 program, the City of Agoura Hills announced that JD Power will be speaking to ROP students at Agoura Hills High School. The city is paying tribute to the book Power: How JD Power Became the Auto Industry’s Advisor, Confessor, and Eye Witness to History by authors Sarah Morgans and Bill Thorness.
JD Power (Dave Power) has had a profound impact on consumer satisfaction and corporate operations with J.D. Power and Associates. The research firm conducts surveys of customer satisfaction, product quality, and buyer behavior for industries ranging from cars to marketing and advertising firms.
Often serving as a motivational speaker and an adjunct professor of marketing at California State University Northridge, Power will speak to students in Agoura High School’s ROP program (Regional Occupational Program) about the top ten things he has learned in business and will be delivering an inspiring message on reaching for dreams and becoming a creative spark for future success.
He will discuss how his family risked everything, remained focused and built a worldwide brand on the integrity of the data they produced. The achievement changed how corporate America did business, proving that consumer satisfaction was key to the company’s success. Power’s research spread across all industries and around the world, making J.D. Power and Associates the premier measuring stick of consumer satisfaction.
The Agoura High School ROP Student Discussion with Dave Power will take place Wednesday, April 16, at 1:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Education Center. There will be about 75 students attending the presentation. “We are very excited and thank Agoura Hills for providing this opportunity to our students,” said Marisa DeFalco, ROP Instructor for Agoura High School.
In conjunction with this year’s One City, One Book program, a special installation “Created Around the Kitchen Table” will be on display in the Fireside Room at the Agoura Hills Public Library. Photos, artifacts, descriptions and timelines on six local enterprises will exhibit how each was initially formed and their growth over time resulting in their successes today. The Acorn Newspaper, Screenwriter Cinco Paul (Despicable Me, Lorax, etc.), and the City of Agoura Hills are among the success stories that, like J.D. Power and Associates, started around a kitchen table. The exhibit will open in mid-April.
The program is sponsored by the City of Agoura Hills, The Agoura Hills Cultural Arts Council, and the Agoura Hills Public Library. For complete information on all One City, One Book events, visit http://ci.agoura-hills.ca.us/.
