Annie is a spayed female Pitbull/Labrador Retriever mix, approximately six-years-old. Her light gold/brown eyes match her tan coat.
Annie came to the Agoura Shelter as a stray on July 15th. She was not happy and very anxious when she arrived (see the “before” picture). Annie had been living on her own for a long time and seemed to not know how to be a “domestic” animal, so we had to approach her very cautiously, with only the staff and a few very well trained volunteers working with her. But Annie showed us very quickly how smart and loving she is. In the two months she’s been at the Agoura Shelter, Annie has learned how to walk easily on a leash, how to sit and lay down and shake a paw. It could be that she knew all this from before she became a stray, but regardless of when she learned it, she’s a much calmer dog today. (See the “after” picture.)
Annie enjoys spending time in our “real room” – a storage container that has been air conditioned and decorated to look like a family room. She respects the room and doesn’t have any accidents when she is in there. Annie takes treats gently and loves getting scratched and sitting with us. You would never guess she had been a feral dog for so long, and she has become one of the volunteers’ favorites.
Despite loving her company, we want her to find a wonderful, permanent home and if you think Annie is meant to be a member of your family, please come into the Agoura Shelter and meet her.
