by Helen Hartel
His name is Nico, and he is a five-year-old male German Shepherd. Until now, he has had a nice home, but his owners recently dropped him off at the shelter without any explanation.
He also appears to be confused as to why. And because he is so accustomed to being with “his people,” he lets all the volunteers know that he is not happy. While he is very vocal in his kennel or the yard, he is amazingly silent as soon as someone steps in to keep him company. He is a barker because he wants, needs and craves human companionship. Seriously–ask to meet him and he will show you.
Here are some things you should know about him:
- He is a big, beautiful boy.
- He loves his peeps.
- He will need a secure yard with at least a seven foot fence to keep him safe.
- He knows both “sit” and “down” commands, so he is more than just a pretty face.
- He walks calmly and politely on leash.
He will need a family that has the time to spend with him, a family where someone is home most of the time.
To adopt Nico, request A4023325. The Agoura shelter is at 29525 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills. Occasionally pets have already been adopted. To check availability, call 818-991-0071 or visit http://animalcare.lacounty.gov
