Mattie is a nine-year-old female terrier that was transferred to Agoura to improve her chance of being adopted. She came with minimal records and the only thing that is known about her past is that her former owner had her for more than five years. What is certain about her, though, is that she has worked her way into the hearts of the volunteers and has become a shelter favorite.
Here are some things you should know about Mattie:
- She is a sweet girl that is house trained.
- She is good with children.
- She is easy to take for a walk.
- She likes other dogs.
- She has advanced obedience skills and knows how to sit, lie down and beg.
- She has an engaging personality.
Since coming to Agoura, she has been taken to see a private veterinarian for her senior check up. Though it was discovered that she has renal insufficiency, this is NOT to be confused with renal failure. Renal insufficiency just means that she should stay on a renal support food diet. This can be purchased at any pet store. To encourage her support system to stay strong, the vet also suggested that she take Pepcid and an Omega 3 Fatty Acid supplement every day for the rest of her life. These can also be bought over the counter and are inexpensive.
Some might call Mattie a special dog and she is in many ways, but to sum her up, she is awesome. Providing her with that extra bit of help will solidify the closeness you are sure to develop with her. She will be your instant companion who is already trained and ready to be your best friend.
