The public is invited to view the fine art of local professional artists on the 2015 Greater Conejo Valley Open Studio Tour. Sponsored by the City of Agoura Hills Cultural Arts Council and The City of Thousand Oaks Cultural Affairs Commission Visual Arts Committee, the tour includes over 150 artists residing in Agoura Hills, Westlake Village, Oak Park, Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park. The Open Studio Tour is on Saturday, April 18, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is free.
Tour stops in Agoura Hills include the Reyes Adobe Art Gallery with the Westlake Village Art Guild’s Student Juried Art Show for high school juniors and seniors. Seventy-six finalists, who will be awarded cash prizes, will have their entries on view at the Reyes Adobe Historical Site. Other stops include the studios of Dan Barton, Paz Winstein, Sheila Fein (with Helane Freeman), and Kathi Colman (with Patrice Irving and Helen Kamali). At the new Agoura Hills Recreation and Event Center, on view will be artists David Deyell, Ron Souza, Lee Zimmerman, Priscilla Kromnick, Craig Morton, and Nurrit Avesar. Meadowbrook Senior Living will feature 13 artists and the Frame Gallery will feature the work of Fred Stone, the “most famous painter of horses in the world,” according to the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune.
Tour stops in Westlake Village include JS Art & Design Center featuring Malibu artists Sean M. Flynn and Jane Seymour and the studio of Louisa Wallace Jacobs.
Tour stops in Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park include the Thousand Oaks Community Gallery featuring 189 works of fine art by 89 artists selected for the Westlake Village Art Guild Open Juried Show 2015. Also on tour are the studios of Esther & Ali Alinejad, Juliette Chayet Cole (with Alan Ronay), Bill Blackman, Annee Hahn, Theodora Ilowitz, Eva Svitek, Carmen Lamp, Shannon Lundberg, Jerry Sawitz, Connie Tunick, and Art Trek. Also on the tour are Palm Garden Hotel featuring Paul Abravaya, Janet Amiri, Geri Schonberg, Barbara Welch; the Reserve at Thousand Oaks (5 artists including Ruth Olenik), and the Framehouse featuring Anette Power, Shannon Celia, Susan Ciufo, Wendy Gordin, Cindy Yeoman and Peggy Ludington.
