This Week in Astrology With Nick Newmont: January 14th -20th, The Uranus Effect

by Nick Newmont

How was your first taste of El Nino? Like it or not there is more rain in store. How much more? When will we get it? How long will it last? All great questions for the meteorologists. We have very sophisticated satellites each TV channel touts as better than the other guys’. But the most frequent comments I hear about the weather is that the forecasts are inaccurate. Are they more or less accurate than years past? Only the statistics could verify or deny weather forecasting accuracy. So I can’t help you there. But I can shed light on the unpredictability from as astrological standpoint.

The planet Uranus rules the Sign of Aquarius. Anything Uranian or Aquarian is different, unusual and- unpredictable. In astrology, Uranus rules weather, especially sudden changes in weather patterns, such as storms involving lightning and thunder and, earthquakes. Uranus also governs electricity, wireless devices and satellite equipment. When I began my early astrological studies, my teacher impressed the following statement upon me: “The only thing you can predict about Uranus is that it is unpredictable.”

Approximately since 2012, we have transitioned into the Aquarian Age, a time of evolution, revolution and a break from the past. The world events support this. Uprisings of different kinds around the globe, random types of violent weather either happening in new locales or off-timed according to history. The time boundaries of the so-called hurricane season have been compromised. There is more clear-air turbulence, which makes air travel more “interesting” than it used to be. This is Uranus’ influence on us.

Uranus in Aries

The thing that escalates these violent natural events is that Uranus moved into the sign of Aries, the god of war, at the end of May 2010 and transits Aries until early March of 2019. Uranus in Aries brings about an aggressive instability that is hard to control. Because Aries is ruled by Mars’ raw energy, the combination of Uranus and Aries create a potent force to be reckoned with and one that is only rivaled by mother-nature herself.

So the next time the weather people get it wrong, know that disruptive forces are at work, on an astrological level. How’s the weather? Look outside. Are we done with El Nino in 2016? Not a chance. If you haven’t cleaned your gutters yet, get to it.

Have a great week everyone!
