Weekend Guide: ‘Cycle-Delic’ Spin Class, Family Mud Run and a Spring Spectacular at the Zoo

“Cycle-Delic” Spin Class, April 1 at Miller YMCA: The Miller Family YMCA of Newbury Park is holding its first “Cycle-Delic” spin class—complete with music, black lights and neon—Friday, April 1 from 6-6:50 p.m. The class is open to the public.

Used Book Sale at Newbury Park Library: The Friends of the Thousand Oaks Library will sponsor a Used Book Sale on Friday, April 1st and Saturday, April 2nd. The event kicks off with an “early bird sale” for members of the Friends of the Thousand Oaks Library Friday, April 1st from 3-5 p.m. Memberships can be purchased at the door at that time. The public sale runs from 6-8:30 p.m. and continues on Saturday, April 2nd from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Newbury Park Branch Library.

Mud Dash Family Fun Run: The Boys & Girls Club of the Greater Conejo Valley is sponsoring the Mud Dash Family Fun Fun Saturday, April 2, at Redwood Middle School in Thousand Oaks.

Ride 2 Recovery Honor Ride in Simi Valley: Ride 2 Recovery Honor Ride is produced by the Fitness Challenge, a 501(c)3 in partnership with the Military and VA Volunteer Service Office to benefit mental and physical rehabilitation programs for our country’s wounded veterans and healing heroes that features cycling as the core activity.

Spring Spectacular at America’s Teaching Zoo in Moorpark: Spring Spectacular is the America’s Teaching Zoo’s largest fundraising event of the year, with entertaining animal shows, get a sneak peek behind the scenes, interact with wild animal trainers and their furry friends and don’t miss all the games, food and fun for all!

Brandon’s Buddies Free Kids Club for Special Needs Kids in Calabasas: This playground is the first fully-accessible playground in the region. The day may include Integrated Play, Face Painting, Arts & Crafts, Entertainment and Treats. Please feel free to bring a sack lunch.

New West Symphony’s Tchaikovsky Fourth Concert in Thousand Oaks:From the dramatic opening proclamation of the “fate” motif to the thunderous percussion and blazing brass of the sweeping finale, the Tchaikovsky Fourth Symphony bursts forth with color, rhythm and sonic majesty.

Aviation Museum of Santa Paula is Open to the Public: The Santa Paula Airport was dedicated in August 1930. Today it is a non-towered facility with nearly 300 aircraft, handling approximately 97,000 arrivals/departures a year. Much of the original 1930’s-era facilities still exist and are used today, giving the airport a very authentic representation of the Golden Age of Aviation.

Local Author Happy Hour Book Signing: Local resident and author, Charlene Ross is celebrating her first novel, Frosted Cowboy (Velvet Morning Press) with a book signing and cocktail party.
