Weekend Guide: Great Race, Arbor Day Celebration and Art Sale

Westlake Village Juniors’ “A Blast From the Past 80′s Party” in Simi Valley: The Westlake Village Junior Women’s Club presents “A Blast From the Past 80’s Party” charity fundraiser and silent auction. The event takes place from 7-10 p.m. at the Wood Ranch Country Club in Simi Valley.

Michael McDonald at the Canyon Club: The singer-songwriter, best known for his work with the Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan, will perform at 9 p.m. Click here for ticket information.


Activate Conejo Valley Health & Fitness Expo in Thousand Oaks: 

This free event offers guidance and motivation to those looking to lose weight, eat right and get fit. There will be walks, talks and exercise excursions. The program takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thousand Oaks City Hall. 

National Park Service “Horse Tales” Event in Newbury Park: The National Park Service invites the public to tour historic Rancho Sierra Vista from 9-11 a.m. In addition to an easy one-mile hike of the area, visitors of all ages can meet the National Park Service patrol horses, Cache and Bay, and view a brief horse demonstration. Arbor Day Celebration Arbor Day celebration: The City of Calabasas will host its annual Arbor Day Celebration from 9:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Gates Canyon Park in Calabasas. The event is free and residents are welcome to come out and get involved in helping to create a beautiful and healthy environment in Calabasas.

Which One’s Pink at the Canyon Club: For the first time ever, Which One’s Pink? pays tribute to Pink Floyd’s 1977 “In the Flesh” Tour. Showtime is at 9 p.m. and tickets are $19.50. 


Mansion to Wildlands Hike at King Gillette Ranch: Take this moderately paced five mile 400′ gain hike at the ranch to see valley and coast live oak savannah, grasslands, coastal sage scrub and manicured grounds around the mansion. Meet in fee parking lot. Bring water, snack, lugsoles, hat and sunscreen. Rain cancels. Call 818.787.5420 for information. 

Art Exhibit and Sale at Santa Monica Mountains Interagency Visitor Center: Allied Artists will host an art exhibit and sale at the Santa Monica Mountains Interagency Visitor Center  from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The exhibit will feature more than 20 artists and will highlight seashore locales along with traditional mountain settings. 

Birdwatching for Young Children and Parents at Malibu Lagoon State Beach: Enjoy a special walk. Binoculars will be provided. Meet at shaded viewpoint at 10 a.m . Call 310.395.6235 for information.
